Changing of the Guard – Toastmasters Meeting 6/27/12

Aloha DBA TMs,

For the past year, we have been under the inspiring leadership of our president, Hieu Pham. Hieu has been a warm and welcoming presence, conscientious in her duties, and always seeking ways to improve our membership experience. She visited other clubs to see how ours might improve, and even attended the international conference last year. Hieu has been admirably steadfast in her attendance, despite her current condition (changing very soon!).  Most of all, it’s just been a fun year under her leadership, and a gratifying year of growth for the club and our individual members.

For the July 1, 2011-June 30, 2012 membership year, our club achieved the President’s Distinguished Club status. This is the highest award level, with us achieving 9 out of 10 possible goals. Goals included number of new members, Competent Communicator and Competent Leader awards, Advanced Communicator awards, number of officers trained, and timely submission of dues and officers lists. Hooray for us!

Thanks also to our other officers who contributed to this outstanding year: Wen He as VP of Education, Eddie Joseph as VP of Public Relations, Rich Sullivan as VP of Membership, Mark Blackburn as Treasurer, (and myself as Secretary).

For the last meeting of Hieu’s “reign,” she was true to form, and changed it up by having a potluck/brownbag at Argosy University. Thanks to everyone who generously contributed to the goodies. We played card games afterward, basically Table Topics questions about random subjects, and we were timed on our answers as well. So it was hardly a day off, but fun nevertheless!

Have a happy Fourth of July next Wednesday, and see you again on July 11!
